Honours in Psychology: 66 credits

* 33 Core Program

* 6 required credits in Research Experience in Psychology, Statistical Analysis

* 6 elective credits chosen from the areas of Motivation, Learning, Sensation and Perception, Cognition, Neuropsychology, Neurobiology, and Animal Behaviour

* 6 elective credits chosen from the areas of Psychopathology, Personality, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology

* 3 elective credits in Psychology at the intermediate or advanced level

* 12 required credits in honours seminars and Honours Thesis

* 24 elective credits in any department other than Psychology which may take the form of a Minor (6 of which must be General Education credits*) 15 of these credites must be science credits.

 

Specialization in Psychology: 60 credits

This program is similar to the BA Honours Program, but without research experience in psychology, the honours seminars and the honours thesis. The number of electives at the intermediate or advanced level in psychology is increased to 12, for a total of 60 psychology credits, leaving 30 open elective credits, 24 of which should be in departments other than Psychology (6 of which must be General Education credits*) and 15 of those elective credits must be science credits.

 

Major in Psychology: 42 credits

* 9 elective credits at the intermediate or advanced level in psychology

* 48 elective credits of which 24 must be taken in departments other than Psychology and may take the form of a Major or a Minor in another discipline (12 of which must be General Education credits, if not adding a second Major or Minor*)

 

Note: students who are exempted from Introductory Psychology will replace the 6 credits with a 300-level Psychology course.

Note: Students in programs leading to the BSc degree are reminded that PSYC 320 and PSYC 391-395 do not count as science credits. All other 300- and 400-level Psychology courses count as science credits.

*As part of your elective credits taken from other departments, and depending on your specific program of study, six to twelve general education credits are required in order to satisfy your degree requirements.
